Grounded

We have been so blessed the last few months as we have moved and settled in to our new home. Thank you all who came to visit us on June 22nd to our home blessing and thank you to all of you who have blessed our home with cards, emails and visits as well! Having a home means a lot to us. Over this year, I have learned the importance of grounding in massage, being sure your rooted and centered, focused and connected to the energy of God before you begin to give of yourself to the client. I see the importance of grounding for our lives by having a home - a place to put down roots and center ourselves, a place where we connect to the energy of God, our foundation, a place where we gain energy to give of ourselves to others. We have much enjoyed decorating our space, and continue to put our finishing touches on our home. Meanwhile, we have met a lot of neighbors! We feel so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors in our condo building. We have a variety of ages, ethnicities and personalities. It is a beautiful mix of people in unintentional community. But we have already started to watch out for one another, as a neighbor, who was up with her baby, woke us up at 3:30am one night to alert us some one was in our car! Unfortunately we had left one door unlocked accidentally, fortunately all they took was $3-$4 change, our change tray and a couple of hours of sleep! We are so thankful for such great neighbors.

Speaking of neighbors! We are officially "new neighbors" through Exodus World Service (www.e-w-s.org), to a family of 4 from Burma/Myanmar. They live about 4 blocks away and we just met this past weekend. They speak little English, read a lot of English and are adapting so well! Especially their children who are an 8 year-old girl and 9 year-old boy. Hla Khaing and Cho Than (the parents) are our age. Kirk and I have a high learning curve for their language of Myanmar, it took us like 3 hours to just learn how to pronounce their names! Now we are working on “Thank You.”

The biggest news lately is that I graduated from Cortiva Institute – Chicago School of Massage Therapy this past Saturday. I am so excited to be done, but even more excited to soon be working! I am currently studying for my National Certification Exam, which I will take July 16 and I should have my license, and prayerfully a job by mid-August. Amen!

You can pray for patience for me to wait on God until He reveals where He wants me to work, our interactions with our new friends from Burma, a marriage small group we are beginning in August, and Kirk to persevere at his work through the end of the year, when we hope for a change in his career. Thanks for all your love and prayers!
